My Hypnosis Journey

Tik tok, tik tok… A mysterious man covered in black swings a pocket watch gently in front of your eyes; at the count of 10, your eyelids become heavier and heavier, and gradually, you cannot resist the tiredness and fall into sleep… I believe this is the scene you imagine when it comes to hypnosis. Portrayed in Hollywood movies as a kind of mysterious magic, I had the same misunderstanding and was skeptical about hypnosis, too. However, after experiencing hypnosis in person, I can now confidently say that hypnosis is way more than putting people asleep.
My hypnosis journey began as a patient. During DSE, my mental state collapsed due to enormous stress; hence, I became depressed and bulimic. This led me to try hypnotherapy. After several sessions of therapy, my mood and mental condition improved miraculously. I was so impressed by the improvement and decided to learn hypnotherapy in order to help others with similar situations. I then received my NGH Hypnotherapist certification when I just turned 18. Afterwards, I decided to dive deep into the field of hypnosis, and learn how to conduct past life regression, a seemingly mysterious yet useful skill in therapy. At the age of 20, I became a certified instructor and was eligible to provide training to aspiring hypnotherapists.
Some people may be skeptical about hypnosis, and may even think it is nothing but a stunt. However, hypnosis has been backed by scientific research by numerous top institutions and it has been used as either standalone or supplemental treatment. Some treat it as a form of guided meditation - hypnotists induce patients into a trance-like state using verbal repetition and mental images. Under this state, patients feel calm and relaxed; this is when hypnotherapists instill suggestions for relaxation, calmness, and overall well-being in patients’ subconscious minds. Even though the suggestion may last just during the session, it still lasts in the subconscious mind.
I feel fortunate to have found my home at GBUS. A place where everyone can fulfill their dreams, while also providing great career opportunities for all of us. At GBUS, we embrace the quest for innovation and diversity. This empowered me to pursue my dream in hypnosis and be myself even if I am doing something different. Looking back, depression and bulimia may seem to be great challenges in my life, but I can now see that this was a blessing in disguise as it was these two challenges that brought me to where I am today - a passionate hypnotherapist helping people build more balanced and fulfilling lives.
