GBUS is a safe space where you can explore different career paths. I took my time exploring my interests by taking semester breaks and working full time. I was able to experience working in the digital sector of traditional banks, virtual banks, and crypto exchanges. This was also where I developed a strong interest towards FinTech and decided to pursue a career in relevant areas.

Although FinTech is a fast-growing industry in Hong Kong, it was still relatively underdeveloped as compared to long-standing traditional sectors such as finance. In addition, FinTech is evolving at a rapid speed with the rise of blockchain and AI - in which many traditional sectors found challenging to keep up. This was when I realized how start-ups were able to adapt flexibly to the ever-changing market, and how exciting it was to work in such an agile environment.

Currently, I am working full-time in a Web3 start-up that is highly invested in NFTs, cryptocurrencies and the metaverse. On the sideline, I am also developing my own Cyberport and HKSTP-backed AI start-up called SuiGor (personal finance chatbot). Working in a start-up, let alone building a start-up, is never easy - as time and monetary resources are always tightly limited in an entrepreneurial setting. My training and education at GBUS has taught me to be a fast learner and problem solver that is persistent, hardworking and someone who thinks critically. In addition, GBUS has equipped me with a set of versatile and transferable skill sets, which have allowed me to engage in many work streams such as business development, marketing, investor relations, operations etc.

Recalling my junior years, I was extremely determined to work in a corporate setting when I was first admitted to GBUS in Year 1 - never would I have imagined committing to a full-time entrepreneurial career path! It is truly amazing to see how GBUS is able to nurture and support students to be open-minded and explore their interests.
