University is an exciting place with opportunities to explore whatever you may desire. Undoubtedly, the semester exchange experience at HEC Paris is by far the most exhilarating and enlightening one. Join me and embark on a journey of cultural immersion in the City of Light.
I had a taste of the European teaching style in HEC Paris, which was interactive and engaging. Students were compelled to raise new ideas and even challenge professors in class. I also appreciated the flexibility offered in class that encourages students to think outside the box. In one of my courses, students had to discuss recent artificial intelligence applications in relation to arts in class. I explored how artificial intelligence was changing the world of photography while others covered topics ranging from music to poetry. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience as I could flex my creative muscles and delve into topics of my interest.
Contrary to usual tourists, I often interacted with French locals and tried to experience its culture to the fullest. I came across an organization called “Lost in Frenchlation”, which screened French movies with English subtitles to the international community. Immediately, I became a fan and hit it off with people from all around the world. We even attended the Cannes Film Festival and enjoyed classic movies on the dazzling French Riviera. Despite our cultural differences, I realized that we shared a lot in common, such as philosophies of life and views on geopolitics. Everyone was hospitable and genuine. I was once again reminded of the importance of celebrating cultural diversity with open-mindedness.
While Global Business is a highly sought-after program due to students’ academic achievements and career prospects, in my opinion, the essence of the program lies within its close-knit community. I am constantly motivated to strive for excellence and go beyond my limits. It is my honor to be a part of the supportive GBUS family.
